Finally, after all the anticipation in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, and after all the rushes for the tv show episodes and wedding shoots and all other extras that need to be done, we finally had a toast to our combat in the past 2 months of stressful and busy schedules. Well, now that i am finally back on posting, i can now rest my mind and recall our little Cambodia trip.
Cambodia — Phnom Penh, to be specific — is a cozy and laid-back city. The moment we alighted from the flight, the city took us in “awe”. Well, of course, not forgetting the friendly custom officers who questioned the purpose of our visit to the city. Yeah, with us carrying about 100++ of our demo dvds, several photo frames, and a LCD screen, it raised their curiosity of the dvds that we had. Then we were told to bring one of the dvd to the officer in the room, where he would play the dvd and check if those are really our demo and not some pirated dvds. And yeap, we managed to pull it through the session and the officer even requested if he could keep one for himself!!! That officer sure took us by surprised with his request, and in fact he was the first Cambodian who check out on our work. **chuckle**
On our route to the hotel, the 3 different personalities of us (Yin Hon, Jared and myself) were busy collecting data about Phnom Penh, the culture, the people, the food and the buildings, in all different aspects. Yin Hon — chatted with the taxi driver through out the journey in order to learn more, if not everything, about Phnom Penh. Jared — would always film and photograph the city so as to compile into his collection. Me — would just observe the city with my eyes and have my ears listening to the friendly taxi driver while compiling the datas in mind.
I guess we have all had a fair bit of knowledge about the city through the taxi-ride in all methods. Lol.
After all the settling down, we had finally got back on our feet and headed to the streets for more in-sights of the city, plus to taste the local food! I must say we can’t leave the city without having to taste the food there. Amongst the famous food was the fried tarantula, grasshoppers, and some other bugs, their own “kuey-tiao” mee and a few others which i have forgotten what they were called. And luckily, we had no trouble communicating with the locals as they do speak English. Of course, not to mention, it is a favorite tourism place for the foreigners, and we saw plenty of them hanging out at the bistros and bars at night!
All in all, the trip was good and the wedding fair went well, except that i had food poisoning on the day of the wedding fair. Thanks to the ever-friendly guy named Hanis, who helped me to get the medicine from the doctor. Thanks to my dear Jared who has accompanied me during the “pain-suffering” moment and for all the set up work, and to YinHon who helped to set up the booth and marketed our service. If not for them, i would not have pull it through the day and i would have scared off the people with my pale-looking face. My heartfelt thanks to all of them.
